TBA Players was formed in 2001 and since then has produced 2 plays a year at Just Off Broadway Theater in Kansas City.
TBA MISSION
TBA Players is a theatre and arts organization that produces Plays, Music and Dance using the talents of the diverse cultural groups in the Kansas City metropolitan area at the Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Central, Kansas City, Missouri for the enjoyment of theatre lovers everywhere.
TBA VISION
TBA Players will:
1) promote the understanding, education and appreciation of
one another’s individuality and similarities while providing
a stimulating theatre experience.
2) give opportunities for appearing in theatre, music and
dance among the young, or experienced, diverse cultural
talent of actors, directors or technicians in the metropolitan
area.
3) provide an exceptional and entertaining experience for the
audience that will encourage them to return for future shows,
and to tell others to come see this show and the next one.
4) primarily present the not so familiar show
5) transport set to other locations as schools and community
centers to present productions to audiences that may not
have experienced live theatre (long term goal)
6) short term goal is to have a weekday matinee for school
children to come to Just Off Broadway to see a show.
Hope to accomplish this in 2004.
TBA HISTORY
Ellen Miles, TBA founder and producer, has a long time interest in theatre, but did not begin producing until 1991 with the comedy, "The Odd Couple, the Female Version" using social security checks to fund it. Surprisingly, she made a little money on this show. This was followed by "Last of the Red Hot Lovers". She then began a long search for a theatre space and when she heard of the new Parks and Rec theatre, she became one of the first producers at this unique urban theater.
Ellen and TBA Players have been privileged to have received financial assistance with grants from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, and the Neighborhood Development Tourism Fund (NDTF), and most recently from the Missouri Arts Council. |
